BARNSTABLE, MA – September 23, 2014 – CCYP has announced the Mentor Monday series as part of the Career Connect Mentor Exchange.  Cape & Islands Workforce Investment Board is the Underwriting Partner for the Mentor Mondays.  The first of these career development events, “It’s all about you: Taking control of your career on the Cape,” will be held on September 29, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Alberto’s Restaurant in Hyannis, and will focus on matching your strengths, goals, and market realities to create patterns of success.

CCYP’s Career Connect Mentor Exchange addresses concerns of young professionals seeking the advice and guidance from experienced leaders in the Cape Cod community.  Applications for the full pair and group mentoring opportunities are still open through September 30th and can be found on the CCYP website.

“Mentor Monday is an exciting new program that is, in essence, speed mentoring,” said Anne Van Vleck, executive director, CCYP. “There’s a different topic every month and each event features dinner and a presentation, following by small group mentoring opportunities. Mentor Monday is a pillar of the Mentor Exchange to help young professionals start or advance their careers or businesses.”  It is open to all, whether or not they are enrolled in the full mentoring program.

Through mentoring, young professionals receive help to clarify goals, add skills, build networks, find resources, and add value to organizations and the community.

The schedule and topics for Mentor Monday includes:

September 29, 2014 — It’s all about you: Taking control of your career on the Cape

October 20, 2014 — Thinking differently: Becoming more innovative

November 17, 2014 — The CEO speaks: What your boss wants you to know about business

Mentor Mondays require no application.  Each event is stand alone, with a small fee of $10 for dinner and simply requires registration online at the CCYP website (there is no charge for those enrolled in the Mentor Exchange program).  CCYP’s Mentor Exchange has been created through the generous support of The Innovation Institute of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, and in collaboration with the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce and Listening 2 Leaders.

CCYP was founded in November 2005 with the idea that Cape Cod could benefit from an organization of young people dedicated to the betterment of the region. Today CCYP is the only organization of its kind serving the region.
